Happy New Year! If you know anything about us, it’s that we love a new beginning, and a shiny, new, full-of-potential 2023 is a big one. If you know a little more about us, it’s that we don’t do resolutions here. Nope, you won’t find any ‘new year, new you’ nonsense. Growing, changing and learning are year-round practices for us, and assigning big goals to an arbitrary time of year is, as far as we’re concerned, setting ourselves up for failure. 

All that said, I love the idea of a fresh start. Every day should be a chance to begin again! Rather than resolutions, I make promises to myself to try something new, learn something new, find a new experience. Getting my house in order, literally or metaphorically. It’s a new cycle of life: time to take stock. This time of year, I feel reinvigorated to tie up loose ends in my home or life.

After the highs of the holidays, January can be a letdown, so I do allow myself to feel a little sad here and there–but I try not to indulge in it for long. There will always be something else to celebrate–in my opinion, it’s important to find opportunities to celebrate everything–even the little, everyday things.

So let’s start with what I’m most looking forward to this year. I’m looking forward to work: I’m currently hoping for a green light on a new acting project I’m excited about. I’m looking forward to building my podcast–it’s been such an honor to talk to and get to know some people that I’ve admired for a long time. I’m looking forward to some quiet time–time to get to know myself more, doing my needlepoint and puzzles or reading a good book somewhere warm.

And of course, I’m looking forward to more of this. We have big things in store for Beginning is Now this year, from (sneak preview alert!) a collection of beauty products totally driven by things you’ve been asking for, to putting another round of amazing women in the spotlight with an all new 40 OVER 40 initiative. 

Hearing your stories is my favorite thing about this community–so here’s to more of that this year. Here’s to a happy, healthy, vibrant 2023.
